In this blog is a brief outline on the possible effects if your deficient  in certain minerals or have a excess, and how we can test your mineral levels and bring them back to balance if needed.

The first mineral we will look at is …


Deficiency Symptoms: Numbness. Tingling Fingers. Muscle Cramps. Lethargy. Poor Appetite.

Excess Symptoms:  Constipation. Excessive Tiredness. Heart Rhythm Abnormalities. Increased Urinary Frequency, and Kidney Stones.


Deficiency Symptoms: Muscle Twitches and Cramps. Twitches. Tremors, and Muscle Cramps. Mental disorders are another possible consequence of Magnesium Deficiency. Osteoporosis. Fatigue and Muscle Weakness. High Blood Pressure. Asthma and Irregular Heartbeat.

Excess Symptoms: Diarrhea. Nausea. Lethargy. Muscle Weakness. Irregular Heartbeat. Low Blood Pressure.


Deficiency Symptoms: Weakness. Fatigue or Low Energy. A Headache, Nausea ,Muscle Cramps Confusion, Irritability.

Excess Symptoms: Dizziness when you stand up or change positions (you may be dehydrated). Severe Sweating or Fever; vomiting and Diarrhea.


Deficiency Symptoms: Weakness. Tiredness. Cramping in arm or leg muscles, sometimes severe enough to cause inability to move arms or legs due to weakness(much like a paralysis)Tingling or numbness. Nausea or vomiting. Abdominal cramping, bloating. Constipation. Palpitations (feeling your heart beat irregularly)

Excess Symptom: With Potassium like many other Minerals the deficiency and excess have the same symptoms. In this case, the excess symptoms are: Trouble breathing. Chest Pain Palpitations or Irregular Heartbeats.  Too much potassium in your blood can lead to dangerous, and possibly deadly, changes in heart rhythm


Deficiency Symptoms: Fatigue and Weakness. Copper deficiency may be one of the many causes of fatigue and weakness. Frequent Sickness. People who get sick often may have copper deficiency. Weak and Brittle Bones. Problems With Memory and Learning. .Difficulties Walking. Sensitivity to Cold. Pale Skin. Premature Grey Hair

Excess Symptoms: Such symptoms often include Mood Swings. Irritability. Depression. Fatigue. Difficulty Focusing, and feeling out of control. To further complicate diagnosis, some symptoms of excess copper are similar to those of a copper deficit


Deficiency Symptoms:  Zinc deficiency may manifest as Acne, Eczema,  Alopecia (thin or sparse hair) low libido.

Excess Symptoms: Nausea and vomiting are commonly reported side effects of zinc toxicity. Stomach Pain and Diarrhea. Flu-Like Symptoms. Low “Good” HDL Cholesterol. Frequent Infections.


Deficiency Symptoms: This wide variety of sources makes phosphorus deficiency rare, but if it does develop, symptoms may include a lowered appetite, irritability, numbness, weakness, bone pain, fragile bones and poor bone and tooth development.

Excess Symptoms: In some people with chronic kidney disease, high phosphate levels cause calcium levels in the blood to drop. Symptoms of low calcium include muscle cramps or spasms. numbness and tingling around the mouth.


Deficiency Symptoms: Extreme fatigue. Weakness. Pale Skin. Chest Pain. Fast Heartbeat or Shortness of Breath. A headache. Dizziness or Light-headedness. Cold hands and feet. Inflammation or soreness of your tongue. Brittle nails.

Excess Symptoms:  Chronic Fatigue. Joint pain .Abdominal pain. Liver Disease. Irregular Heart Rhythm. Heart Attack or Heart Failure. skin color changes (bronze, ashen-gray green)


Deficiency Symptoms: Poor Bone Growth or Skeletal Defects. Slow or Impaired Growth. Low Fertility. Impaired Glucose Tolerance( A state between normal glucose maintenance and diabetes).Abnormal metabolism of carbohydrate and fat.

Excess Symptoms: The symptoms of manganese toxicity may appear slowly over months and years. Manganese toxicity can result in a permanent neurological disorder known as manganism with symptoms that include. Tremors, Difficulty Walking, and Facial Muscle Spasms.


Deficiency Symptoms: Chromium Deficiency and Metabolic Syndrome. Metabolic Syndrome is diagnosed when you present with three of the following symptoms: high blood pressure, high triglycerides, elevated LDL cholesterol, abdominal fat (the beer belly or love handles) and high fasting blood glucose levels.

Excess Symptoms: Symptoms include redness, swelling, and scaling of the skin. Diabetes: Chromium might lower blood sugar levels too much if taken along with diabetes medication


Deficiency Symptoms:  Lesions of the skin. Nausea. Diarrhea. Skin Rashes. Mottled Teeth. Fatigue. Irritability. Nervous system Abnormalities. Brazil nuts contain very high amounts of selenium (68–91 mcg per nut) and could cause selenium toxicity if consumed regularly.

Excess Symptoms: Garlic breath. Nausea .Diarrhea. Skin rashes. Irritability. Metallic taste in the mouth. Brittle hair or nails. Loss of hair or nails.


Deficiency Symptoms: Cobalt deficiency is related to vitamin B12 deficiency. Symptoms include Fatigue. Weakness in Limbs. Numbness and Tingling in arms and legs. Nausea. Weight Loss, Confusion, and Headache.

Excess Symptoms: Cardiomyopathy (a problem where your heart has problems pumping blood)Deafness. Nerve Problems. Ringing in the ears (tinnitus) Thickening of the blood. Thyroid problems.


Deficiency Symptoms: Deficiency can cause intellectual disability. Seizures. Molybdenum deficiency resulting in sulphite toxicity occurred in a patient receiving long-term TPN. Symptoms are a headache, nausea, vomiting, and coma.

Excess Symptoms: These issues could possibly lead to symptoms such as headaches, seizures, visual changes, and neurological disorders. Molybdenum toxicity may interfere with copper absorption and cause gout-like symptoms.


Deficiency Symptoms:  If there is too little sulphur, it could lead to reduced protein synthesis. The sulphur-containing amino acid cysteine is also needed for making glutathione, which is somewhat of a superhero in your body because it works as a potent antioxidant that protects your cells from damage.

Excess Symptoms: Can cause confusion, fatigue, weakness, poor appetite, nausea, and back or abdominal pain and can make calcification worse.


As you can see, a lot of different minerals have similar if not the same deficiency and excess symptoms.

To compound the technical part of understanding your mineral levels, lots of different minerals have an effect on each other. Some strengthen each other and some weaken each other, and if there are heavy metals this adds another layer on understanding what exactly a client really needs.

Can You Take To Many Mineral Supplements ?

Too many people think that there can be no harm taking mineral supplements, and the worse that can happen is that you just pee them out and waste your money. Yet I would disagree with this, maybe if someone is in good health and they take a multivitamin and mineral this can help them. Yet if someone has a health condition it may make things worse.
